Notes ---- Exploration of Personalized Education

Notes are messy,
sent directly,
thoughts are chaotic,
no need for a quick knife
attention has wandered
and is now empty.

General Education#

General education and specialized education are merely different choices of educational models, but essentially, they stem from different understandings of "education."
General education emphasizes "nurturing" rather than "teaching," as it does not have rigid divisions of specialization; it offers diverse choices. Through these varied choices, students achieve free and natural growth. It can be said that general education is a form of humanistic education that transcends utilitarianism and practicality. The reason for taking "great scholars and great thinkers" as role models is that they possess the precious qualities of independent personality and independent thinking, which is the ultimate pursuit of general education. Education is not a production line in a workshop, churning out the same model and the same way of thinking. Instead, it aims to develop and uncover the potential and spiritual qualities of different individuals. General education seeks to "nurture" true "humans" rather than "products."

School hallway has a blackboard displaying Saint Augustine's French poem "Love me, no matter who you are": I understand your pain, your soul's struggles and torment; your body's weaknesses and flaws; I know your cowardice, your sins, your failures; yet I still say to you: "Give me your heart, love me, no matter who you are."

Life is Education, title. Written by Tao Xingzhi. Published in the March 1930 issue of "Rural Teacher," No. 9. It proposes the views of "life is education" and "society is school." It believes that the historical development of education has gone through three periods: "life is life, education is education," where the two are separate; "education is life," where the two communicate; "life is education," where "society is school." It argues that Dewey's assertion of "education is life, school is society," while noting "the communication between the two," is flawed because "a small school absorbing everything from society is prone to falsehood," thus advocating "life is education" and "society is school."

"Most Likely To Succeed" is a documentary about schools, telling the story of a "special" school that dares to break a 124-year educational system and transform the school into a different form. This school has no exams, no textbooks, and no traditional homework. Students learn through project-based formats, and teachers evaluate and provide feedback on their learning outcomes by observing and recording the entire process of student participation in projects. The documentary has won multiple awards and is praised in the industry as "the best documentary so far on the subject of schools." As educators and parents, we should think about how to make changes now to cultivate successful children in the future. Many may find answers after watching this film.
