Preliminary Summary#
The parrot has come to my home. It's been over a month.
I previously wrote a bit about Parrots – ACEVS
Two budgerigars, one blue and one green.
Not expensive, one under 30.
I also got a bigger cage, costing over 30 yuan. 40*40 80cm.
Landing Point#
The little green one is lively, while the little blue one is relatively more stable.
Last week on November 22, I let them out of the birdcage to play in the human cage.
The little green one was released alone.
This time, he didn't perch on the chandelier, nor on the clothes rack, nor on the edge of the wall, nor on the monitor, nor on the edge of the map. This time, he directly landed on the head of my second child. When the second child walked, he didn't fly away. I took a photo with my phone, and he flew to my hand, pecking at my fingers.
The little green one also landed on the head of my first child for the first time, and I quickly took a photo.
Then he also landed on my head, and all family members had a turn.
Then the little blue one was also let out. The little blue one is quite timid, but he learns from the little green one quickly.
The result was that two parrots landed on my head, which was quite fun, and the parrots were on my shoulders, hanging on my clothes, trying to grab onto everything.
Catching Birds#
Catching the birds to return them to the cage is becoming increasingly difficult. At first, my self-proclaimed clever method became harder to use. Last night, I tried to catch him several times but failed. As soon as he saw my hand, he would fixate on it, upgrading his strategy to prioritize watching the hand that got close, and he would take off immediately. I also didn't dare to use too much force, for fear of injuring him. My family suggested using two red flags to wave, not letting him rest while flying back and forth in the room, waiting until he got tired to catch him. I thought that wasn't appropriate. I searched for methods. The methods I found were similar to what I thought: turn off the lights. During the back-and-forth flying process, I found that the parrot was unwilling to go to dark places. I turned on the lights near the cage to wait for the parrot to return, which was also slow. After turning off the lights, the parrot's vision became dull, making it easier to catch him directly. If the parrot learns to fly away when it sees your shadow, there's another trick: turn off all the lights, preferably at night. Use a flashlight to shine on it, remember the parrot's position, then turn off the flashlight and catch it blindly.
Bird Droppings#
Another issue is the bird droppings. I've been hit twice, once on my shoulder and once on my head. I even specifically checked my head with my hand and ended up with bird droppings all over my hand. I verbally summarized my experience: don't worry about bird droppings on your head, just wait to take a shower later. My wife mentioned a content creator who initially prepared paper towels wherever the parrot landed, but later found it was useless. The solution was to wait until the droppings dried up for easier cleanup. It sounded a bit like a self-deprecating remark to me.
Video#
For the first time, I used the editing feature on my Redmi phone. After editing, I uploaded it to Bilibili and found that Bilibili has automatic editing, which automatically edited it again. I thought I could copy the link. It still needed to be reviewed. So I waited about ten minutes. After ten minutes, Bilibili prompted that it was under review, resources were tight, and they had accelerated the process for me. I continued to wait. I checked the information and found that Bilibili reviews take about 24 hours. They prioritize shorter videos. Some take a few minutes, while others may take a long time to review. I wonder how long my 18-second video will take. It was uploaded around 10:00 on November 26, 2024.
Why not use my own server? I found a free one, and I could see how the images were loading. Some said it loads from right to left, which is indeed slow, so I didn't think about the video.
Around November 15, one review was completed. I decided to try it out. Finally published.
